Stage 16: Orthez - Col d'Aubisque

In continuing cycling scandals, Michael Rasmussen was kicked off Tour de France by his team today, while Moreni from the Cofidis team tested positive for testosterone so the whole Cofidis team was thrown out of the race.

The race today started with a protest at the start. It was kind of confusing what was going on. I think the riders were protesting that they wanted a clean race. It was hard to tell. Anyway it only lasted about 15 minutes and finally they started racing. It was a brutal day with a hors category climb in the middle, followed by a cat 3, two cat 1's and the finish another hors category. None of the journalists were allowed to take their cars to the top. We had to park 6k below and take a shuttle. I worked my way down and am now sitting waiting to go.

At the bottom of the Aubisque there was a group of 4 riders which included Mayo, Sastre, Verdugo and Evans. They were passed by Rasmussen, Leipheimer and Contador. Rasmussen won the stage.
